Casa Fernandini – Art Nouveau Building in Lima, Peru

The Casa Fernandini, located in Lima, Peru, is a distinguished example of Art Nouveau architecture in South America, blending organic ornamentation and flowing lines with regional adaptation. The building is a rich embodiment of the floral and curvilinear motifs characteristic of Art Nouveau, reflecting the international reach of the style around the early 20th century.

The building is crowned with elegant wrought-iron balconies, their curves and tendrils mimicking vines and natural forms. Lower sections of the windows and arches are adorned with stucco reliefs of acanthus leaves, vines, and floral tendrils. Arched windows on the ground level are framed by intricate wrought-iron grilles, emphasizing both elegance and security. Above the central doorway and side windows, colorful ceramic or tile panels featuring stylized floral scenes add visual richness and emphasize craftsmanship.

It remains a rare and valuable example of Latin American Art Nouveau architecture—testament to a time when design, art, and architecture were unified in the service of beauty.
